Institute of Solid State Chemistry and Mechanochemistry, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is one of the oldest scientific institutions in Siberia. The Institute was organized in 1944 as Chemical and Metallurgical Institute, and since 1997, with the development of research in the area of solid state chemistry and mechanochemistry, it has been named Institute of Solid State Chemistry and Mechanochemistry.
The Institute is known for research in the areas of the kinetics and mechanisms of solid-phase reactions, the use of mechanochemical methods to activate the processes in the solid phase, investigation of the structure and properties of molecular crystals at high pressure, application of the methods based on the synchrotron radiation to the studies of fast solid-phase processes.
