The Laboratory of Electrochemistry of Heterogeneous Systems (formerly the Laboratory of Electrochemistry) was founded in 1961 by Professor N.P. Gnusin. From 1970 to 1993, the laboratory was headed by Dr. Sci. Robert Yu. Beck, since 1993 – Dr. Sci. Alexander I. Masliy. There are 18 employees in the laboratory staff, including 2 doctors and 9 candidates of sciences.

Main Research Areas
  • Investigation of the adsorption of the components of sulfite-thiosulfate solutions and their effect on the kinetics of cathodic and anodic processes on gold.
  • Study of the dynamics of the formation of self-assembled monolayers of alkanethiols on solid electrodes.
  • Study of the features of the spatial localization of electrochemical processes on flow-through volume-porous electrodes with different directions of the electric current vectors and the flow path of the solution.
  • Investigation of the features of current and potential distribution during electrodeposition of metals on resistive substrates.
  • Development of functional metal and metal-containing nanolayers on the surface of polymer and carbon fibers for use as electrode materials, supercapacitors, electromagnetic screens and bactericidal filters.
